Workshops Plus Other Activities
Join qualified coaches for workshops to help build your skills and confidence in biking and walking well. Workshops are free and open to all levels. Refreshments available. Be sure to grab a spot by registering at one of the links below. The Let’s Ride Kids’ Bike Rodeo kicks things off on Wednesday, May 29 from 3:30 – 5:00 pm at Shipyards Park.
Let’s Ride Kids’ Bike Rodeo
Wednesday, May 29, 3:30 – 5 pm | Shipyards Park
Enjoy fun activities including a bike obstacle course for all levels, bike decorating and more. Get your bike ride-ready by Icycle Sports specialists. Learn safe biking tips and have fun on an obstacle course for all levels in collaboration with the Yukon Cycling Association.
Must bring your own bike and helmet to participate. Check-in required to receive your wristband. For ages 4 to 14 years with a guardian. To secure a spot register at whitehorse.ca/play Course ID 41325.
Walking 101
Wednesday, June 5 | 6 – 7:30 pm | Canada Games Centre
Join City of Whitehorse fitness specialist Chris Young for a fun and informative Walking 101 Workshop on June 5th. Meet at the Canada Games Centre foyer for an outdoor walk on the Hamilton Boulevard Trail. Learn all about the benefits of walking as a mode of transportation, how to stay safe while walking, and tips for incorporating walking into your daily routine. This in-person event is an excellent opportunity to meet fellow walkers and start your journey towards a more active commute. Bring comfortable walking shoes and poles if you use them.

Biking 101

Join Yukon Mountain Bike Team leaders for hands-on skill building, including balance, cornering, braking, cadence/gear selection, wheel lifts, safety tips, and essential roadside maintenance. Use your new skills during a team ride following the workshop! Bring your own bike and helmet. We’ll have some bikes to lend if you don’t have one. Please click here to reserve a spot.
Pedal Poll Count
Tuesday – Sunday, June 4 & 8| Various Locations in Whitehorse
Join fellow community stewards in Vélo Canada Bikes‘ pedal poll count – a national citizen science project launched in 2021. Volunteers are needed to count bicycles, pedestrians, and personal and oversized vehicles at various locations throghout Whitehorse to get a snapshot of the state of active transportation.
